Australian goalkeeper Brad Jones is set to join Dutch powerhouse Feyenoord on a one-year deal.

The former Liverpool and Middlesbrough stopper has reached an in-princple agreement with the Rotterdam-based club to move across from Eredivisie rival Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie (NEC).

"Brad Jones brings a lot of know-how with him," Feyenoord technical director Martin Van Geel told the club's website.

"He knows the Eredivisie and he also has international experience, due to his Liverpool period among other things."

Van Geel said bringing in the 34-year-old four-cap Socceroo, who made 17 appearances in six months for NEC, was a priority following a long-term injury to first choice keeper Kenneth Vermeer.

"Brad really wants to come to Feyenoord and we are delighted he is coming to strengthen us within such a short space of time," Van Geel said.

"We only have two more fit keepers in Par Hansson and Justin Bijlow - not enough in our view to start a season with lots of league, cup and Europa League matches."
