Tim Cahill's first home game for Melbourne City will be against Western Sydney Wanderers after the latter won their way into the FFA Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday.
City were drawn at home against the Wanderers in what will be the only all-A-League tie when the last-eight matches are played in late September.
Ageless Socceroo superstar Cahill debuted for City last week coming on as a substitute at Brisbane Strikers in his first outing since a high-profile return home.
Cup champions Melbourne Victory will tackle local side Bentleigh Greens, while Sydney FC will also play in their home city when they visit Blacktown City.
Canberra Olympic will host Melbourne side Green Gully who stunned Central Coast Mariners in the Round of 32.
The Wanderers were in cruise control in dispensing with Newcastle-based Edgeworth Eagles on Tuesday evening, as doubles from Scott Neville and Brendon Santalab sealed a 5-1 win.
After three A-League grand final defeats, the FFA Cup offers the Wanderers an opportunity to win their first domestic silverware.
"We want to go all the way now," said Wanderers coach Tony Popovic.
"We have put ourselves in a position where we can go further and hopefully we can do that."
There were highly promising signs for the Wanderers with new Japanese midfielder Jumpei Kusukami shining on his club debut.
"He is still settling in and adapting to what we want to do," Popovic said about Kusukami.
"There were good signs tonight, and we still have six weeks to go before the round one (of the A-League) and he will be a lot better by then."
Sydney FC had a far tougher outing and needed extra time before subduing Perth Glory, thanks to extra-time goals from Milos Ninkovic and Alex Brosque.
Green Gully and Bentleigh Greens were the other victors on Tuesday, as they secured 3-1 and 1-0 away wins over Melbourne Knights and Devonport Strikers respectively.
Exact match dates and venues will be announced at a later date.
